Red Dress Day Event at CB McMurdo Center for Red Dress Day May 5, 2024

On Thursday, May 3, 2024, Mrs. Lisa Scott led the staff and students in an exercise of remembrance, to raise awareness of and to honour the missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit people of Canada. Students and staff painted red hand prints on rocks to recognize the missing sisters whose voices have been silenced.

According to 2019 data from Statistics Canada, Indigenous women account for four percent of the population, and yet 28 percent of all murders in Canada that year involved Indigenous women. (John Woods/Canadian Press)

Thank you, Mrs. Scott, for raising the awareness of the violence against Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit people.
